Overview

Chugach provides mission-critical infrastructure and operations support across the INDOPACOM region, with proven capability in austere, remote, and logistically complex environments. Long-term work in Guam and Fort Greely, Alaska anchors Chugach’s ability to sustain forward presence and strategic missions where reliability and speed matter most.

Chugach extends this capability through installation maintenance at NSA intelligence sites in Hawaii, long-standing operation of Henderson Airfield and island infrastructure on Midway Atoll, and a regional logistics and operations office in Hawaii that supports distributed missions across the Pacific. Together, these efforts demonstrate Chugach’s ability to operate at scale, across distance, and under demanding conditions – enabling sustained readiness and mission execution throughout the Indo-Pacific.

Mission Environment

The INDOPACOM region spans vast distances, includes isolated installations, and presents harsh climates—from extreme cold at Fort Greely, Alaska, to tropical corrosion and supply challenges across Guam. U.S. forces operating in this region depend on reliable infrastructure, well-maintained facilities, and responsive support services that keep personnel safe, installations mission-ready, and wartime sustainment assured.

Guam: Enabling Forward Presence and Operational Readiness

Chugach has supported infrastructure and facilities operations on Guam since 2013, solving diverse Department of War challenges – big and small – in one of the most strategically important forward regions. Our work spans large new construction, major renovations, modular infrastructure solutions, and even bespoke installations such as perimeter fencing to protect restricted areas. Chugach managed and maintained hundreds of family and unaccompanied housing units across Naval Base Guam and Andersen Air Force Base, while also sustaining Gateway Inns & Suites facilities that supported visiting personnel. By establishing a centrally located main warehousing facility, Chugach reduced transit times and optimized material stocking, overcoming logistical challenges posed by island geography, weather, and corrosion from the marine environment. Chugach also provided construction and operational support for the Combat Skills Training Facility at Camp Blaz, enhancing the ability of Marines and joint forces to conduct mission-relevant training in the region.

Fort Greely: Sustaining Strategic Missile Defense in the Arctic

At Fort Greely, Alaska, home to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC), Chugach provides Base Operating Services that sustain critical ballistic missile defense operations in a remote, sub-Arctic environment. Chugach maintains essential infrastructure such as the airfield and power generation and distribution systems, ensuring continuity of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). The work includes environmental compliance and facilities readiness in support of personnel executing national defense missions. Chugach’s pre-planned, computerized maintenance system tracks and schedules maintenance for over 20,000 assets, minimizing downtime and coordinating global BMDS activities well in advance of mission impacts.

Strategic Capabilities in Austere Operational Settings

Across these environments, Chugach delivers a broad set of capabilities that directly support INDOPACOM mission priorities:

  • Base and Facilities Operations: Comprehensive services in remote conditions, including utilities, housing, maintenance, and logistics, ensuring installations remain fully operational and compliant.
  • Infrastructure Sustainment: Asset life-cycle management, preventive maintenance planning, and execution of corrective work to sustain critical systems.
  • Construction and Design-Build: New construction, renovations, modular solutions, and bespoke built systems to meet evolving mission requirements.
  • Warehousing and Logistics Optimization: Strategic warehousing to reduce material lead times and improve response capabilities.
  • Climate-Adapted Solutions: Expertise across sub-Arctic, tropical marine, and coastal environments, mitigating weather and corrosion impacts on infrastructure.
  • Rapid Response and Adaptability: On-site personnel with the training, tools, and decision authority to address emergent requirements and sustain mission momentum.

Operational Impact

Chugach’s presence in remote and austere locations directly contributes to readiness and force resilience in the INDOPACOM region by:

Reducing infrastructure downtime and logistical bottlenecks that could delay mission execution.

Providing secure, reliable housing and quality-of-life facilities that sustain long-term deployment readiness.

Enabling strategic facilities and training sites that prepare personnel for high-temperature, high-stress operational environments.

Supporting missile defense operations and forward posture assets that deter adversaries and reassure allies.
